Cha-Cha-Cha classes
Cha-cha-cha demonstration by a couple in a class at the University of Virginia
Cha-cha-cha Description |
The cha-cha-chá (sometimes called just the cha-cha) is a lively, playful, and flirtatious dance with its origins in Cuba. It is often danced to music of the same name introduced by Cuban composer and violinist Enrique Jorrin in the early 1950's, but can also be danced to certain modern tunes as well. The light and bubbly feel of the cha-cha-cha creates a unique sense of fun for the dancers and for those watching.
Dancing the cha-cha-cha includes five small steps danced to four beats, and lots of hip motion that stems from a regular bending of the knees. The title of 'cha-cha-cha' is said to be a vocalization of the sound of dance shoes on the floor when dancing this style. |
